Somatic Work

Healing and Awakening Through the Body

What is Somatic Work?

The word somatic comes from the Greek word soma, meaning “the living body in its wholeness.” It points not just to the physical form, but to the body as a direct, living experience—intelligent, expressive, and inseparable from our emotions, thoughts, sensations, and spirit.

Somatic work invites us to listen deeply to this living body. Through mindful presence and curiosity, we begin to access the body’s wisdom—its memory, its knowing, its capacity to heal and awaken. Rather than approaching the body as something to fix or control, somatic practices open a compassionate dialogue with what’s already here, allowing insight, regulation, and transformation to arise naturally from within.

Approaches I work with

Body-centred Psychotherapy

A mindful, body-based approach to uncovering and transforming unconscious patterns

Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy is a gentle, body-based approach that helps uncover the unconscious beliefs, emotional imprints, and patterns shaping how we experience life. Through mindful presence, healing unfolds naturally—not by analysing or fixing, but by noticing what arises in the moment through sensation, movement, imagery, and emotion.

Grounded in safety and respect for your pace, this collaborative process supports the body in releasing what it no longer needs. Rather than revisiting old stories, the work creates space for integration—opening the way to greater freedom, authenticity, and ease.

Somatic Inquiry

A path of awakening through the body.

Somatic Inquiry is a contemplative, body-based process of listening deeply to your inner experience—not to fix or change it, but to discover the truth of what’s here. Rooted in presence, curiosity, and reverence, it invites the body to reveal insights, clarity, and integration through attuned guidance and awareness of sensation, emotion, and felt meaning.

Rather than focusing on symptoms or past events, this work explores what is unfolding in the present moment. Many are drawn to it as a path of both healing and spiritual awakening, opening the way to authenticity, wholeness, and a deeper ground of being.

Tension and Trauma Release Exercises TRE®

Release deeply held patterns of tension and stress that hold you back physically, emotionally and spiritually.

TRE® is a gentle yet powerful series of exercises designed to support the body in releasing deep patterns of stress, tension, and trauma. It works by safely activating the body’s natural tremor mechanism—a neurogenic vibration that helps discharge muscular tension and bring the nervous system back to a state of balance, ease, and calm.

When we carry unresolved stress or trauma, the body can remain in a contracted state—stuck in fight, flight, or freeze. Over time, this can impact everything from our sleep to our sense of safety and connection. TRE offers a simple, body-led way to unwind these patterns, restoring a felt sense of groundedness, presence, and vitality.

  • “ Renata is an absolutely incredible therapist. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough! She has the gift to make you feel so welcome, seen and heard the moment you meet her. She creates an incredibly safe space for you to drop in, go deep, and fully surrender to the process. I have had incredible insights and experienced a deep transformation during our sessions. “

  • “I'm so grateful for the guidance Renata has given me. For a long time I was looking for someone to help me move beyond the state of anxiety and shutdown that I was in. It wasn't until I worked with Renata guiding me, that I was able to tap into what was driving my nervous system dysregulation and constant reactiveness. I feel so much more grounded and peaceful since the somatic healing with Renata. I'd recommend her to anyone struggling with emotional overwhelm or who wants to grow and heal.”

  • “I felt so grateful for the TRE practice yesterday. I feel I take something new and fresh away into my sitting practice from it.

Renata is a very good teacher, enriched I feel, by her commitment to her own personal work.“

  • “TRE was such a unique experience from which I am sure I will continue to benefit as I practice regularly. I certainly feel the best I have for quite a while and am so grateful for the way Renata led this simple but profound technique.”

  • “Renata is a gifted teacher and I like very much the way she tunes in to an individual's response and honour that, whilst giving back what might be a good offering for them as well.

I can see that Renata has studied the dharma extensively and it is fab to be the recipient of this specialised knowledge. I love the space and authenticity in her teachings as well as inclusion of relevance to trauma and the unconscious as related to processing deep feelings. I also really enjoyed the class on The Inner Critic!

It seems to me that she lives what she teaches. It is so wonderful to experience that. “
