The spiritual teachings offer us pathways of developing wisdom in order to support our awakening. All of the practices are invitations for us to contemplate and experience for ourselves the freedom that is possible on the journey.
The Pali word Ehipasiko, often used by the Buddha, means ‘come and see for yourself’. This points to how we must contemplate and experience for ourselves what awakening means. This is about developing insight into the nature of reality through our own, embodied experience.
One of the qualities of heart and mind that supports this process is that of Inquiry, aka Investigation. Through inquiry we are able to not only deepen our presence but we are also able to see deeply into the nature of reality through becoming aware of the ways we are creating our own suffering. This is a profound way of, not only developing insight and deepening presence, but also supports the release of unskilful patterns and habits of mind.
In this talk I explore the meaning of inquiry and the ways we can use it to deepen our presence and bring about freedom.
